Intro to Abstract Painting: Brushwork & Color

Learn how to create a successful abstract painting in acrylics by exploring your emotional inner
landscape! Students will experiment with innovative mark-making techniques, larger brushes, and explore color theory. Focus of class will be on composition, choosing successful color combinations, and achieving a desired overall effect. We will also view work by other contemporary artists & explore color field paintings and collage techniques. Participants should bring their own supplies.
Saturday, Nov 9, 10am-5pm, $145

Supply List:

-Acrylic Paints (heavy bodied are best)

-Recommended Colors- titanium white, cadmium red. cadmium orange,  yellow, ultramarine blue, sap green, burnt umbers and any other colors that you like to work with.

-three same sized canvases 10x10” or close to this size (pre-painted a color of choice)

-Variety of brushes

-At least one medium palette knife

-Water jar

-Palette for mixing paint

-Rags or paper towels

-plastic bags for trash

-  Colored pencils

Pack  lunch or one can be ordered out.

Jackson Art will provide you with an easel or bring one if you have it.

Coffee & tea available for purchase at studio.

Cancellation Policy: We ask that you to give us 10 days notice if you need to cancel for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations should be made by phone by calling (603) 387-3463. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space. We are sorry, but we cannot give refunds or issue credits for missed classes or no shows.
