Michael E. Vermette majored in Painting and Printmaking at Maine College of Art, receiving his B.F.A degree in 1980. A full-time artist and part-time teacher, Michael has been painting in oil and watercolor for over forty years and has won numerous awards for his work, including the Laura Coleman, Beverly and Marilyn Sabin Awards at the 12th,13th Biennial N. American Open Shows and last year’s NE  Watercolor Signature
Member Show, 2017. This current exhibit of work is a result of two Art Residencies at the Highland Center in Crawford Notch. In this time, Mike created both oil and watercolor painted sketches that were done completely outdoors. Some were done near the lodge and others involved hiking up to five miles with snowshoes and his equipment on his back.
