With Award winning painter, George Van Hook
In this weekend portrait painting workshop, students will first start by drawing the head to understand the structure and form. We will investigate the specifics of individual features. After lunch, participants will paint the head in their chosen medium using a limited palette of primary colors. The focus of this will be creating a recognizable form. George will teach in a loose impressionist style through demonstration and individual coaching. On the second day, students will again begin with drawing and creating a limited palette study. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon doing a full color portrait bringing all that we learned into play. This workshop is for those with some familiarity with painting but all levels are welcome and all mediums appropriate including oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics. Students are required to bring their own supplies. Class size will be kept small for individual attention.
